Man Charged with Attempted Murder for Allegedly Setting House on Fire with Children Inside

A Texas man is facing charges of attempted murder after allegedly setting his home ablaze with his three children inside, as per law enforcement reports. Pedro Luis Parra Pulgar, 46, was slapped with three counts of attempted murder and his bail was set at a hefty $2.25 million. The incident occurred on November 6 at a residence located at 31619 Eldorado Lane in the Polo Ranch Community of Fulshear, Texas.

Pulgar sustained severe injuries in the fire, necessitating an extended hospital stay before he was discharged on Thursday. Following his release, he was immediately taken into custody and booked into the Fort Bend County Jail. The fire caused substantial damage to the home, with first responders arriving promptly at the scene, according to police reports.

Two of Pulgar’s children managed to escape the burning home with minor injuries. However, a three-year-old child was left trapped inside the house. Responding officers reported hearing faint sounds from within the home, prompting them to enter through a bedroom window to rescue the child.

The toddler, who was suffering from severe smoke inhalation, was airlifted to a nearby hospital. The child has since been released, having made a recovery. Sgt. Brandon Moseley, who was instrumental in the child’s rescue, visited the child at the hospital following the incident.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers children can face, even within their own homes. It also underscores the bravery and quick thinking of first responders, whose actions can often mean the difference between life and death.
