A 47-year-old transgender woman, Natalie Wolf, born as Ryan Haley, has been convicted of sexually abusing a minor and sentenced to serve time in a men’s prison in England. The court in Newcastle heard that Wolf had allegedly attempted to molest a 13-year-old girl, touching her chest and groin area.
Wolf, however, maintained her innocence, claiming that she was the target of a conspiracy. She accused the police and jury of being manipulated into finding her guilty. She also alleged that the victim was not truthful in her testimony, stating that she had no sexual interest in females.
The victim, now an adult, expressed her fear of being raped by Wolf during the incident, which took place in Sunderland, England. She revealed to the court that feelings of shame and self-doubt had initially prevented her from reporting the abuse.
During the sentencing on November 28, the victim refused to address Wolf by her chosen female pronouns. She stated, “I know you as Ryan Haley, a man who sexually abused me. There are few things more isolating than living in a body you don’t feel safe in. I’ve carried shame, self-doubt and a sense of disconnection from myself.”
Despite identifying as a woman, Wolf was sentenced to serve her three-and-a-half-year sentence in a men’s prison. The victim expressed her relief at the sentencing, stating, “Ryan, you destroyed me as a child, a teenager and an adult. Today you are finally going to face justice. Today, Ryan Haley, you are going to get what you deserve.”
The court also heard that Wolf had 13 previous convictions, none of which were for sexual offenses. She was also diagnosed with a personality disorder and mental health issues. In addition to her prison sentence, Wolf was issued an indefinite restraining order, a sexual harm prevention order, and was required to register as a sex offender for life.
