Two people were killed and one injured in a volley of Iranian missiles targeting central Israel on Monday morning.

Air raid sirens sounded across central Israel and Samaria at 11:15 a.m. after Israel detected multiple ballistic missile launches from Iran.

At least one of the missiles launched featured a cluster bomb warhead, scattering dozens of smaller explosive warheads over a wide area.

One of the warheads struck a construction site in the central Israeli city of Yehud, critically injuring two workers.

Emergency first responders from Magen David Adom (MDA) and United Hatzalah were dispatched to the scene to treat the injured and evacuate them to a local hospital.

However, according to a United Hatzalah spokesperson, one of the workers, a man roughly 40 years of age, was declared dead at the scene.

The second victim, also roughly 40 years of age, was evacuated to a local hospital. After arriving at the hospital, the second worker was also declared dead.

“Immediately after the sirens, we at MDA received reports of several scenes in central Israel and went out to check all of them,” said MDA paramedic Liz Goral.

“One of the scenes in central Israel is at a construction site. It is a severe scene. The two injured were lying unconscious and suffering from severe shrapnel injuries to their bodies.”

Dr. Dvir Bar-On, a volunteer physician with United Hatzalah; Yaron Sheff, a United Hatzalah paramedic; and medic Mordechai Steiner, who arrived at the severe scene at a construction site in central Israel, said that the second victim was treated at the scene, but added that his condition had been unstable when he was evacuated to a hospital.

“This is a severe scene following an impact at a construction site. At the scene, the death of a worker around 40 years old was pronounced due to the nature of the severe injuries he suffered. We also provided initial medical assistance at the scene to another worker, also around 40 years old, who was evacuated to the hospital in serious and unstable condition.”

In a separate strike, a man roughly 30 years of age was seriously injured in the city of Or Yehuda.

He was treated at the scene and evacuated to Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan.

In the central city of Holon, a missile struck a building, causing it to collapse. No injuries were reported.
