ROUND ROCK, Texas – A Juneteenth Celebration in Round Rock, Texas took a tragic turn on Saturday night when a shooting left two people dead and several others injured. The incident occurred during the Round Rock Juneteenth Festival at Old Settler’s Park, according to Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks. The shooting took place around 10:50 p.m. and suspects are still at large with the exact number unclear.

Emergency response officials reported that at least six individuals were transported to local trauma facilities with potentially serious injuries. Among the injured were four adults and two children, according to the Austin-Travis County EMS.

Chief Banks provided details on the sequence of events that led to the shooting, stating that two groups began fighting near the vendor area when gunfire erupted. One individual produced a gun and opened fire during the altercation.

The swift response of police officers and firefighters stationed at the event played a crucial role in attending to the wounded. They quickly applied tourniquets and performed CPR, undoubtedly saving lives.
