INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) has launched investigations into two separate homicides that occurred on N Mitthoefer Road in the past week. The police have identified several similarities between the two cases, including the victims being white females in their 50s who were killed in the same manner. While there is currently no evidence connecting the two incidents, IMPD is taking proactive measures to ensure public safety.
The first victim, Shannon Lassere, was described as a beloved figure, known for her warm personality and nurturing nature. Lassere, 58, was found stabbed to death on the morning of January 27th, just across the street from her home on North Mitthoefer Road. In a chilling turn of events, another woman was found dead just a few yards away from where Lassere’s body was discovered, less than a week later.
In order to prevent further violence in the community, IMPD has increased police presence in the area. Uniformed officers will be patrolling on foot and in vehicles, and detectives will be conducting thorough investigations in the coming days. The department is also collaborating with the Indianapolis Marion County Forensic Services Agency to gather any possible forensic evidence from the crime scenes.
IMPD is seeking the community’s assistance in these investigations. They are urging residents to come forward with any information about the victims or their activities prior to their deaths. Additionally, they are asking residents and business owners in the area to review their surveillance footage and report any suspicious behavior to the assigned detective. The police are reminding the community to practice good safety habits and to immediately call 911 if they feel endangered.
Anyone with information related to the homicides is encouraged to contact IMPD’s homicide office directly at 317.327.3475 or email Detective Ryan Clark at Ryan.Clark@indy.gov. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
