The Israeli military said Monday that it has identified 222 captives being held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, adding that the families of the captives have been notified.

IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari spoke with reporters Monday regarding updates on the ongoing war against terrorists in the Gaza Strip.

While Hamas has claimed that it is holding roughly 250 Israelis hostage in Gaza, Israel has yet to confirm the full number of captives, raising the number identified from 202 on Sunday to 222 Monday.

“The number of [confirmed] captives is tentative, and changes in keeping with the information gathered. There are also more than a few foreign nationals whom we were not able to identify immediately.”

Hagari also said that over 1,000 terrorists involved in the October 7th invasion of southern Israel and the subsequent massacres have either been captured or killed and their bodies held by Israel.

“We have more than 1,000 terrorist bodies or prisoners.”

Turning to Israel’s northern front, Hagari said that the IDF has eliminated more than 20 Lebanese terrorist cells.
