In a startling development, a 25-year-old man was apprehended by the Glendale police on Friday afternoon, linked to the horrific killing of his own mother. Alejandro Gonzalez was detained following a welfare check at his home, which unveiled a scene of horror with blood splattered all over the apartment. Legal documents indicate that the victim, Teresa De Jesus Cruz Rubio, aged 49, was found concealed under a blanket, her beheaded body bearing multiple stab wounds.
Family members became worried when Cruz Rubio did not attend a family event planned to celebrate her birthday on Saturday. Her unusual absence raised suspicions that something was amiss. It was confirmed by relatives that Gonzalez shared the apartment with Cruz Rubio, where the heinous crime occurred.
In a chilling twist, Gonzalez’s arrest for his mother’s murder occurred less than 24 hours after his release from jail on unrelated charges, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. He had previously been detained on a felony charge of criminal damage. However, the case was returned to Phoenix police for additional evidence gathering.
Upon detaining Gonzalez, officers observed dried blood on his attire. During questioning, Gonzalez alleged that he and an unidentified local man were consuming drugs prior to the man initiating the fatal assault on his mother. Gonzalez admitted to also using a knife on Cruz Rubio.
Despite Gonzalez’s assertions of another individual’s participation in the crime, Glendale police have not yet discovered any evidence to corroborate this claim. The investigation into the crime is ongoing, and Gonzalez is presently facing charges of murder and theft.
