FLORIDA – The body of a 3-year-old boy with autism who went missing from a resort near Disney World in Florida on Thursday has been found, according to authorities. The child, identified as Rakim Akbari, was discovered deceased in a body of water at the resort, as confirmed by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. The circumstances surrounding his tragic death are currently under investigation.
A missing child alert was issued by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) on Thursday. Rakim was last seen in the area of Palm Village Circle in Orlando, wearing a maroon shirt and pajama pants in white, green, and red. He was barefoot and had limited verbal communication skills. The public was urged to check water and waterways during the search.
The resort where Rakim went missing was later identified as the Sheraton Vistana Resort Villas at Lake Buena Vista, situated approximately 12 miles from Disney World. This heartbreaking incident has left guests and locals distraught. One resort guest expressed deep sympathy, stating, “It’s just heartbreaking. My heart really goes out to the family about the loss of the little boy. It’s a child, what can we say. With anyone really, but when it’s the babies, that hurts even more.”
