SYOSSET, NY – A quiet residential street in Nassau County, New York, was the scene of a tragic murder-suicide on Sunday, resulting in the death of five individuals. The incident occurred in a small blue house on Wyoming Court in Syosset, where all victims were fatally shot. The perpetrator of the crime ended his life on the property’s front lawn.
The tragedy unfolded just days after the death of the family’s matriarch, Theresa Martha DeLucia, and as the family was preparing to sell the house. Mary Macaluso, a local real estate agent, was scheduled to meet with the family at the house around noon to discuss the sale. However, by the time she arrived, the street had been cordoned off by authorities.
Macaluso revealed that the family members had gathered for the funeral and had requested her presence to evaluate the house before listing it. The property was estimated to be worth nearly $900,000. The urgency of the sale was due to some family members needing to return to Florida after the funeral.
The deceased homeowner, Theresa Martha DeLucia, passed away earlier in the week at the age of 95, as per her obituary. Four of the victims were found inside the house, while the gunman was discovered on the lawn, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Patrick Ryder, the commissioner of the Nassau County Police Department, confirmed the incident as a murder-suicide. He stated that the individual found on the front lawn had indeed shot himself after killing the others.
This tragic event has left the quiet cul-de-sac in shock, as the community grapples with the loss of five of its residents in such a horrific manner. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the tragic murder-suicide.
