On Tuesday, a five-year-old boy was injured after falling from a waterslide at a Georgia amusement park. A spokesperson from the park reported that the boy was riding in a double tube at Lake Winnepesaukah, located near the Georgia-Tennessee border when he fell about 15 to 20 feet.
Ginger Bence, a witness, indicated to the NY Post that she heard several employees blowing whistles, which she thought was a safety procedure in case of injury. The boy was treated at the scene and transported to Children’s Hospital at Erlanger in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The extent of his injuries remains unknown.
The Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire responded to the incident, and an inspector is currently at the park. The agency is expected to release a final report in the coming days.
The amusement park assured the public that they had completed thorough inspections. They reported that the Twist-N-Shout water ride, including the tubes, the foundation, and the signage, were all inspected by state inspectors. The ride has since been reopened, and the park expressed its commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable environment.
