A 13-year-old boy was hospitalized following an incident at Disneyland where he exited a log ride prematurely and slid down a 50-foot drop. The event took place on Sunday evening on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, one of the park’s most frequented attractions.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, located in the recently renamed Bayou Country section of Disneyland Park, opened its doors in November 2024. It replaced the previous water ride, Splash Mountain. The ride is known for its climactic 50-foot drop, which is where the incident occurred.
Eyewitnesses reported that the teenager left the ride before it had come to a complete stop. He then proceeded to slide down the final drop of the ride on his own. The drop, a key feature of the ride, is a steep 50-foot descent that marks the end of the water ride.
Disney confirmed the incident, stating that the boy sustained minor injuries, including cuts and scrapes. As a precautionary measure, he was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. The park issued a statement expressing their concern for the boy’s wellbeing and assured that safety is their top priority.
Following the incident, the ride underwent an inspection by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health. After a thorough review, the ride was deemed safe and was allowed to resume operations.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to safety guidelines when enjoying amusement park rides. While the boy’s injuries were minor, the situation could have been much worse. It is crucial for park visitors to remain seated until the ride has come to a complete stop to avoid potential accidents.
