Relatives identified the woman as 26-year-old Shanteria Mosely as police investigated her death and an 18-year-old remained in custody.
SMYRNA, Ga. — The family of a 26-year-old Georgia woman says she was making DoorDash deliveries before she disappeared, prompting relatives to trace her cellphone to a Smyrna apartment complex where her remains were later found and an 18-year-old man was arrested.
Relatives identified the woman as Shanteria “Tia” Mosely, also known to loved ones as “KT.” Smyrna police had not formally released the victim’s identity as of Friday and said confirmation through the medical examiner remained pending. Kingston Bradley, 18, of Smyrna, has been charged with concealing the death of another person. Police said Friday that Bradley is also a person of interest in the investigation into the woman’s death, but no murder charge had been announced.
Mosely’s family said she left home Wednesday morning to make DoorDash deliveries and later stopped responding. When relatives could no longer reach her, they used information from her cellphone to trace her location to the Park Valley Apartments on Valley Parkway. Family members said they found her vehicle there and began searching the complex, knocking on doors and checking nearby areas as they tried to determine what had happened.
Smyrna police said officers first responded to the complex at 6:57 p.m. Wednesday after receiving information that the missing woman’s phone and vehicle were there. Lt. Meredith Holt said Friday that an officer remained for about 30 minutes, knocked on doors and spoke with people before leaving. Police were called back to the property later that evening after witnesses reported additional activity.
Mosely’s aunt, Michelle Weaver, said family members continued searching after the initial police response. Weaver said relatives encountered Bradley while going door to door and asked whether he had seen anyone leave Mosely’s vehicle. According to the family’s account, Bradley said he had not. Authorities have not publicly established whether Bradley and the woman knew each other or how she came to be at the apartment complex.
An arrest warrant obtained by news organizations says a witness later saw Bradley carrying a plastic container through an open area of the complex at about 8:15 p.m. The warrant alleges that Bradley dropped the container and ran toward a nearby apartment after realizing he had been seen. Police subsequently found part of a woman’s remains inside the container.
Investigators searched Bradley’s apartment and reported finding several areas with bloodstains, along with cleaning equipment and a large saw with what appeared to be blood on it, according to the warrant. Authorities also reported a strong smell of bleach inside the residence. Those findings are allegations contained in the investigation and do not establish who caused the woman’s death. Police have not announced an official cause or manner of death.
DoorDash confirmed to Atlanta News First that the woman worked as a driver for the company. The company said its records did not show a delivery to or near the Park Valley complex during the relevant period. Investigators have not publicly explained how she arrived there, and police said they were still working to determine any connection between the woman and Bradley.
Family members said they recognized Mosely from a tattoo, but police stressed Friday that the medical examiner had not completed a formal identification. Holt said people believed to be relatives of the victim were expected to provide DNA samples to help authorities confirm her identity. Mosely’s relatives described her as a mother, daughter and sister and said they wanted answers about what happened after she left home.
The family has also questioned the initial police response. Relatives said they kept searching the property after showing officers information about Mosely’s vehicle and cellphone location. Police have publicly provided a timeline of their response while investigators continue interviewing witnesses, executing search warrants and reviewing evidence connected to the case.
Bradley remained held without bond in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on the felony charge of concealing the death of another. Police said he had not provided investigators with a statement as of Friday. Detectives were examining multiple possible crime scenes and had not ruled out whether other people could have been involved. The concealing-death charge is an allegation and does not establish that Bradley killed the woman.
Smyrna police said the investigation remains active and that additional information is expected as detectives process evidence and complete interviews. Authorities had not announced a motive, a confirmed relationship between Bradley and the victim, or a homicide charge as of Friday.
