Diddy Hospitalized After Prison Head Injury

Sean Combs was reportedly taken from Fort Dix for medical treatment, but federal officials rejected claims that another inmate injured him.

FORT DIX, N.J. — Federal prison officials have denied reports that Sean “Diddy” Combs suffered a head injury during a fight with another inmate, undercutting one explanation for a reported medical trip from the New Jersey prison where the music mogul is serving a federal sentence.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons issued the denial Thursday after reports claimed Combs had fought with fellow Fort Dix inmate Christopher “Dudus” Coke. A bureau spokesperson said the account of the confrontation was false but did not provide an explanation for how Combs may have been injured. That leaves the circumstances surrounding the reported medical episode unresolved several days after news outlets first said Combs had been taken from the prison for treatment.

TMZ initially reported that an ambulance left the Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix at about 1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, with Combs being taken for treatment of a head injury. The outlet reported that he was conscious and speaking and returned to the prison before sunrise. People and other news organizations subsequently reported that the injury was not considered life-threatening. The Bureau of Prisons has not publicly provided medical details, citing privacy, safety and security concerns.

Accounts of how the injury happened have changed during the week. Page Six reported that an unnamed source said Combs struck his head on an upper bunk. TMZ later cited unnamed prison sources who alleged that Combs was injured during an altercation with Coke, a Jamaican man serving a federal prison sentence. Neither explanation had been publicly verified by federal authorities when the reports appeared.

The Bureau of Prisons then directly disputed the reported fight. A spokesperson told TMZ that the story concerning the alleged confrontation was false and said the agency had no additional information to provide about how Combs was injured. USA Today also reported receiving a statement from the bureau rejecting the account. The denial represents the clearest official response so far to the competing explanations surrounding the reported incident.

Combs’ family has also pushed back against the fight allegation. A representative for the family told journalist Loren LoRosa that relatives did not believe Combs had been involved in the reported confrontation. Earlier, a representative for Combs said his team was aware of reports concerning his condition and was working to establish what happened, while emphasizing that his health and well-being were the immediate concern.

The conflicting reports come as Combs, 56, remains incarcerated at Fort Dix following his federal criminal trial. A jury in July 2025 convicted him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Jurors acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and sex-trafficking charges. A federal judge sentenced him in October 2025 to 50 months in prison. His projected release date has been reported as March 2, 2028.

Combs’ incarceration has drawn continuing media attention. Recent reports have described disciplinary issues and allegations that he received unauthorized privileges or possessed contraband while at Fort Dix. His representatives have challenged portrayals of his prison conditions and have said he continues to serve his sentence while pursuing his legal appeal. Those separate disputes do not establish what caused the reported head injury.

For now, federal officials have rejected the claim that a fight with Coke caused Combs’ reported injury, while no authoritative public account has established an alternative cause. The Bureau of Prisons has not released further details about the reported medical treatment, leaving the precise circumstances of the episode unconfirmed.
