JASPER, Alabama – A convicted sex offender who had been reported missing one week ago was discovered buried and dismembered in a shallow grave in Walker County, Alabama. Authorities suspect that the roommate who filed the missing person report is responsible for the gruesome slaying.

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office announced on Thursday that human remains were found in a makeshift grave near the Walker County and Cullman County line. One individual has been taken into custody in connection with the investigation. Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith and Captain Darrell Mote provided details about the case at a press conference on Friday morning.

The missing person, identified as 62-year-old Terry Linden Drummond, was reported missing on October 7th by his roommate, 30-year-old Kevin Chad McLemore. McLemore claimed to have last seen Drummond alive before leaving for work on October 4th.

Following the filing of the missing person report, investigators obtained a search warrant for Drummond’s property. During the execution of the search warrant on October 11th, a makeshift grave covered in concrete blocks was discovered. The grave contained dismembered human remains.

An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for McLemore, who was taken into custody on suspicion of murdering Drummond. The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences now has possession of the human remains for further analysis.

Terry Linden Drummond, also known as Rockman Drummond, was a convicted sex offender. According to the Alabama sex offender registry, he was convicted in June 2015 of second-degree sodomy, enticing a child for immoral purposes, and traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act.

The motive behind Drummond’s killing and the exact cause of death remain unknown at this time.
