HOUSTON — A pizza delivery driver in Houston, Texas, has shot and killed a man following an argument early Sunday morning, according to the Houston Police Department (HPD). The incident occurred at around 12:40 a.m. at an apartment complex on Yellowstone Boulevard, close to Highway 288.

The driver had gone to the address to deliver a pizza when he was met by two armed men demanding money, said HPD. In response, the delivery driver retrieved his own weapon and fired, resulting in the death of one of the assailants. The second man managed to flee the scene.

Fortunately, the driver was unharmed during the altercation. HPD Sgt. Mark Holbrook expressed the need for further investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting.

The brother of the man who was killed, Ameer White, identified him as 21-year-old Areyeh White, although his identity has yet to be officially confirmed by the authorities.

Ameer White found the circumstances surrounding his brother’s death suspicious. He questioned the claim that his brother was the intended recipient of the pizza delivery, pointing out the absence of a receipt to support the assertion. He also wondered why the delivery driver was armed if he was indeed employed as a delivery person.

According to Ameer, his brother was at his girlfriend’s apartment when the shooting occurred. The two brothers lived together in a different unit within the same apartment complex.

The case will be referred to a grand jury for further investigation and potential charges, as per HPD.
