LAS VEGAS, Nev. – A male was stabbed three times during a graduation ceremony at Wendell Williams Elementary School, following a verbal altercation with a female. The incident occurred on Friday morning, prompting a hard lockdown at the school.

Clark County School District Police Department Lieutenant Bryan Zink confirmed that the female involved is facing charges of battery and assault with a deadly weapon, as well as disturbing a school. The male victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

The altercation initially began inside the cafeteria where the ceremony was taking place before escalating into a physical confrontation in a quad area outside. Both CCSD Police and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to the incident. The school district has assured parents that there is no current threat to students or staff.

The school administration has decided to postpone the ceremony, which was set to take place at Wendell Williams Elementary School, until Monday. Principal Cynthia Ireland will provide further details regarding the rescheduled time.

Parents and guardians have been updated about the incident through a letter sent by the school, emphasizing that all students are safe and that the school day will continue as planned. The lockdown is being maintained out of an abundance of caution.
