Irving, Texas – Police are searching for a suspect after a targeted shooting at a Chick-fil-A left two people dead on Wednesday afternoon. The incident took place at the fast-food restaurant located in the Las Colinas area of Irving. Officer Anthony Alexander from the Irving Police Department confirmed that officers responded to multiple 911 calls about the shooting around 4 p.m.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered two victims inside the restaurant with gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) pronounced both individuals dead shortly after their arrival. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed, and the police have not provided any details about the suspect’s description.
According to investigators, there is evidence to suggest that the shooting was targeted. The suspected shooter, 37-year-old Oved Bernardo Mendoza Argueta, fled the scene before the officers arrived. Authorities believe Mendoza Argueta was driving a 1997 silver Honda four-door sedan with a Texas license plate reading “GVH 6205.”
Texas Sky Ranger captured aerial footage of the crime scene, showing numerous police units surrounding the Chick-fil-A on N. MacArthur Blvd. Dozens of people, including apparent employees, were seen gathered in the parking lot.
Officer Alexander assured the public that the incident is isolated and poses no further threat to safety. Investigators have obtained surveillance footage from the scene and are using it to aid in their search for the suspect.
Police advise individuals to avoid the crime scene area as the investigation continues. If anyone spots Mendoza Argueta, they are urged not to approach him but to immediately call 911.
