IBIZA, SPAIN – Zac Efron, the renowned Hollywood actor, was admitted to a hospital on Friday night after a minor swimming accident in Spain, as confirmed by his spokesperson. The 36-year-old, best known for his role in “High School Musical,” was found in a pool at a villa in Ibiza. Two staff members at the villa quickly came to his aid. The exact details of the incident are still uncertain, with no official statement on whether it was a medical emergency or a near-drowning event.
Further details about the incident have not been released yet. However, Efron’s spokesperson stated that the actor was immediately taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Efforts to get additional comments from the actor’s publicists have so far been unsuccessful.
Efron was reportedly released from the hospital on Saturday morning and is currently in good health. The actor, who also starred in “The Greatest Showman,” has not yet posted any information regarding the incident on his social media accounts.
It is speculated that Efron was in Spain as part of his European tour, which included a visit to the 2024 Paris Olympics. The actor, also recognized for his role in “Iron Claw,” was spotted at the opening ceremony of the Games on July 26. He even posted a photo of himself by the Seine river during his visit.
Efron is known to be close friends with Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles. After Team USA’s gold medal win in the gymnastics team final, Efron gave Biles a warm shoutout on social media. The two first met at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where Biles, then 27, confessed to being a big fan of Efron. The actor also posted several photos with the gymnast, expressing his delight at having his “Olympic dream” come true.
