A 27-year-old woman from Florida, who had been reported missing in a rural area of Allendale County, South Carolina, was found safe on Friday, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). Jessica Rapsys, a resident of Jacksonville, Florida, had been missing since August 13. The details surrounding her discovery have not been disclosed by the authorities.
The search for Rapsys was a collaborative effort, as stated by Allendale County Sheriff James Freeman. “We all worked together and did not give up hope,” Freeman said in a statement released on Friday. The initial search was launched in the Steel Creek Plantation area following a report of Rapsys’ disappearance.
Rapsys’ vehicle was discovered abandoned on train tracks in the area on Tuesday night, with the keys still inside, according to officials from the Allendale County Sheriff’s Office. The reason for Rapsys’ presence in the Creek Plantation area on Tuesday remains a mystery, as stated by Chief Deputy Steven Robinson of the Allendale County Sheriff’s Department.
Rapsys’ father, Vid Rapsys, expressed his gratitude towards the sheriff’s department and SLED for their relentless search efforts. “They have been incredible and have been tirelessly searching with all conceivable methods,” he said.
Following her discovery, Rapsys was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and any necessary medical treatment, as reported by SLED on Friday. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance and subsequent discovery remain under investigation.
