Dorsey Ryan Love, a 35-year-old man, was apprehended on July 31 on charges of domestic violence, specifically assault and strangulation, according to the Dothan Police Department. The arrest followed allegations made by his former girlfriend, Lindsay Shiver, who claimed that Love had physically assaulted her in a Dothan, Alabama residence on July 25. Shiver, a former beauty queen, accused Love of throwing her onto a bed, attempting to strangle her, and suffocating her with a pillow.

Shiver filed a protection order against Love on July 29, in which she also claimed that Love had previously abused her during a trip to Florida. This incident was not initially reported to the police. In the document, Shiver stated that Love had threatened her life.

Interestingly, Shiver herself is facing charges related to a plot to murder her estranged husband, Robert Shiver. The alleged plot was to take place in the Bahamas on July 16, 2023. Robert Shiver had filed for divorce in April of the same year, citing his wife’s alleged infidelity.

Shiver was arrested in August, along with her then-lover, Terrance Bethel, and his friend, Faron Newbold Jr., in Abaco, Bahamas. The police reportedly discovered the alleged murder plot while investigating a break-in at a bar where Bethel was employed. Evidence of the plot was found on Bethel’s phone.

Shiver is alleged to have sent Newbold a message containing photos of her husband with the instruction to “kill him.” However, she later told police that any talk of murder was made out of anger and frustration following an argument.

In December, Shiver’s attorney, Owen Wells, maintained his client’s innocence. He stated that Shiver was facing the legal process with honesty and transparency, and was eager to put the ordeal behind her and reunite with her children.

Robert Shiver, who survived the alleged murder plot, is an insurance executive and former football player for the Atlanta Falcons and Auburn University. Lindsay Shiver, formerly known as Lindsay Shirley, was crowned Miss Houston County in 2005.

Shiver was released on $100,000 bail and permitted to return to the U.S. to live with her parents while wearing an ankle monitor. Her co-defendants were released on $20,000 bail, with conditions including wearing ankle monitors, reporting to the police three times a week, and adhering to a curfew.
