A 19-year-old Denver man is facing charges of second-degree murder following a fatal stabbing incident that occurred in a local residence on Sunday. The altercation, according to police, was sparked by a disagreement over hot sauce.

The incident began when an individual in the house expressed a desire to make a sandwich and inquired about the location of the hot sauce. George Vigil, the accused, directed them to a bedroom upstairs, as stated in a police report. The minor disagreement quickly escalated, leading to the victim challenging Vigil to a fight.

Vigil, known to habitually carry a switchblade, allegedly attacked the victim with the knife, causing the victim to fall to the ground with injuries. The police were alerted to the incident, which took place near the border of the Sloan Lake and Jefferson Park neighborhoods.

The victim, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed, was rushed to a local hospital. However, despite medical efforts, the victim was pronounced dead.

Following the incident, Vigil was apprehended and charged with second-degree murder. The Denver Police Department is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal altercation.

The incident underscores the potential for seemingly trivial disagreements to escalate into violent confrontations, highlighting the need for conflict resolution and de-escalation strategies in everyday interactions.
