Zachery Ty Bryan, widely recognized for his portrayal of Brad Taylor on the hit ABC sitcom “Home Improvement,” was taken into custody on Friday in Custer County, Oklahoma. Bryan was apprehended on charges of driving under the influence (DUI) and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. Reports indicate that Bryan was discovered by law enforcement officers in the back seat of his car, asleep, in the early hours of Friday morning.

After a brief exchange with Bryan, the officers departed from the scene. However, they stopped him shortly after he started driving. During the traffic stop, Bryan confessed to the officers that he had consumed alcohol heavily the night before. He also admitted that he was uncertain if he had ceased drinking before deciding to sleep in his vehicle.

Bryan also disclosed to the officers that he was attempting to leave California, a state he professed to detest. Following a series of field sobriety tests, Bryan was taken into custody by the police. The actor also revealed that his license had been suspended due to a previous DUI arrest.

This is not Bryan’s first brush with the law. In February, he was arrested in California on suspicion of DUI. He was charged with felony DUI, having at least three prior felonies, and misdemeanor contempt of court. Bryan was released the same day on a $50,000 bail and was scheduled for a court hearing on April 23.

In addition to his DUI charges, Bryan has been faced with other serious allegations. In 2020, he was charged with two counts of menacing, two counts of fourth-degree assault, coercion, felony strangulation, harassment, and interfering with making a report. These charges were related to an incident where he allegedly strangled his girlfriend.

Bryan has since claimed that the incident was blown out of proportion. He stated that the argument with his girlfriend was loud due to the thin walls of their townhome, which resulted in the police being called. He also suggested that the multiple charges were a strategy by the police to pressure him into pleading guilty to something.
