Man Caught Having Three Marriages at the Same Time

A Florida resident, Henry Betsey Jr., 50, has been sentenced to two years of probation after being found guilty of bigamy. Betsey Jr. had been leading a triple life, having secretly married three different women he met on various dating platforms. His deceptive actions came to light when his first wife, Tonya Betsey, discovered his multiple marriage licenses while searching county court records.

Betsey Jr. first tied the knot with Tonya in November 2020, after meeting her on the popular dating app, Tinder. The ceremony took place at the Jacksonville courthouse. Two years later, he married a woman named Brandy, whom he had met on another dating app, Stir. This second marriage took place in Manatee County on February 22, 2022.

A few months later, Betsey Jr. met Michele Narens on Match.com, another dating website. After a whirlwind courtship of just three weeks, the couple got married at a courthouse in Hernando County on November 23, 2022. Narens later revealed to ABC Action News that she had no idea Betsey Jr. was already married to two other women.

The truth about Betsey Jr.’s multiple marriages was uncovered when Tonya began searching for her husband’s name in county court records. She was shocked to discover that he had marriage licenses to two other women. Tonya then reached out to Michele online and shared her startling findings. Michele subsequently contacted law enforcement, leading to Betsey Jr.’s arrest for felony bigamy at his residence in Seminole County last year.

The women believe that Betsey Jr.’s motive for marrying them was financial gain. Brandy revealed that on their wedding day, he insisted on making her bank account a joint one. The women also criticized the lack of communication between Florida counties, which they believe could have prevented Betsey Jr. from marrying multiple times.

Both Michele and Tonya obtained domestic violence orders from judges after Betsey Jr. became abusive. Brandy ended her marriage with him after just five days. During his court appearance, Betsey Jr. apologized for his actions, but Michele, who was present at the sentencing, expressed skepticism about his remorse.

In addition to his probation sentence, Judge Charles B. Merritt Jr. ordered Betsey Jr. to perform 100 hours of community service, undergo a mental health evaluation, and abstain from using social media and dating websites.
