Two Firefighters Tragically Lost in on Duty Accident

On Monday, a procession of emergency responders made their way to Flagstaff, Arizona, to honor the memory of two Timber Mesa firefighters who tragically lost their lives in a severe head-on collision while on duty the previous evening. The untimely demise of these courageous individuals has deeply impacted their fellow firefighters and the community they diligently served.

Randy Chevalier, the Chief of the Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District, expressed profound sorrow over the loss of his colleagues. He spoke passionately about his deep respect for each member of his team and his dedication to the community they serve. The news of the fatal accident, which occurred near his home late Sunday evening, was a crushing blow. He characterized the scene of the head-on collision as one of extreme destruction, describing it as one of the most horrific accidents he has encountered in his career.

Upon arriving at the accident site, Chevalier identified the victims as Brenna Kulikowski, 31, and Damon Thompson, 21. Kulikowski, recognized for her exceptional skills and empathy, had dedicated three years to the department. Thompson, who was nearing the completion of his first year, had always aspired to be a firefighter.

Thompson’s parents remembered their son as an exceptional firefighter, highlighting his lifelong ambition to serve his community. The loss of these two committed individuals has left the Timber Mesa community in a state of shock and mourning. A fellow firefighter expressed the collective grief, acknowledging the uncertainty and pain as they grapple with this tragedy.

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is currently investigating the cause of the crash, which also resulted in the death of the other driver involved. The identity of this individual has not yet been disclosed.

In response to this tragic event, a fundraising campaign has been launched to support the families of Kulikowski and Thompson. The community is rallying together to provide comfort and assistance during this challenging time.
