The Allen County Coroner’s Office in Indiana has confirmed the identities of two bodies discovered in the St. Marys River last week. The deceased, 40-year-old Christina Michelle Dixon and 41-year-old Matthew Joseph Johnson, were both residents of Connersville, a city located east of Indianapolis. The coroner’s office has officially ruled their deaths as homicides.
The tragic discovery was made by volunteers participating in a river cleanup near Guldlin Park, on the outskirts of downtown Fort Wayne. The coroner’s report indicated that Dixon’s death was the result of strangulation and suffocation, while Johnson’s death was caused by a combination of gunshot and stab wounds.
Both Dixon and Johnson were reported missing by the Richmond Police Department on September 19. Their disappearance was highlighted in a missing persons bulletin issued by the Indiana State Police.
The circumstances leading to their bodies being found in the river remain unclear. As of now, no information regarding a potential suspect or additional details of the investigation have been publicly disclosed.
As the investigation progresses, law enforcement officials are encouraging anyone with information related to these deaths to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department. They hope that with the public’s assistance, they can reconstruct the events leading up to the tragic deaths of Dixon and Johnson, and bring those responsible to justice.
