U2 lead singer Bono called Israel’s current actions against Hamas in the Gaza Strip “uncharted” in their “depravity and lawlessness.”

U2 front man Bono launched a blistering attack on Israel in a statement published Sunday, accusing the Jewish State of “evil” and expressing “revulsion” toward the IDF’s actions against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The lead singer of one of the world’s best-selling bands posted the remarks on U2’s official website, detailing his stance on the ongoing war.
Claiming Israel is using “starvation as a weapon of war,” Bono alleged the country is deliberately targeting children.
“[W]hen the loss of non-combatant life en masse appears so calculated… especially the deaths of children, then ‘evil’ is not a hyperbolic adjective,” he wrote.
While acknowledging the October 7th Hamas massacres, Bono argued that “Hamas are not the Palestinian people,” and claimed Palestinians “have for decades endured… marginalization, oppression, occupation, and the systematic stealing of the land that is rightfully theirs.”
Notably, Hamas remains extremely popular among Palestinians, with polls showing the vast majority supported the October 7th attacks and that the terror group would win national elections in a landslide if held today.
The singer argued that Israel’s treatment of Palestinians was condemnable even before October 7th, but that “the level of depravity and lawlessness we are seeing now feels like uncharted territory.”
In the same statement, Bono’s bandmate The Edge accused Israel of committing “ethnic cleansing” and “colonial genocide.”
None of the members of U2 acknowledged that Hamas and other terror groups regularly steal incoming humanitarian aid shipments, hoarding critical items in warehouses and then selling them to civilians at exorbitant rates.
Nor did the Irish musicians condemn Hamas’ policy of shooting hungry Gazans who protest against their rule or attempt to obtain food from their families.
U2 also did not speak out against Hamas’ pre-October 7th policy of torturing and murdering Gazans who expressed political disagreements with the terror group.
