POTTSTOWN, Pennsylvania — A startling discovery made by a 13-year-old boy has shed light on a decades-old mystery. Dylan Bond stumbled upon a skull while searching for frogs in a Pennsylvania pond back in April 2022. Recent examination by Mercyhurst University has confirmed that the skull belongs to Roger Hart, a man who allegedly attempted to murder his wife over two decades ago.
Roger Hart, a resident of Pottstown, had been missing since April 2004. His car was found near the pond shortly after his disappearance, with his wallet and keys left inside, but there was no sign of Hart himself. Now, the Berks County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed that the remains discovered by Bond are those of the long-missing Hart.
Authorities conducted advanced DNA testing on the skull, with the Pennsylvania State Police and the FBI working together in the investigation. The testing ultimately led to the positive identification of Roger Hart. However, due to the condition of the skull and the absence of other skeletal remains, the cause of Hart’s death remains unknown.
Bond vividly recalls the moment of his shocking discovery. “I came across something on my toe and I looked down and I couldn’t see it. But I scooped it up with my stick, and at first, I thought it was a turtle,” he recounted to ABC 6. The young boy expressed his disbelief at finding a human skull, saying, “I was freaked out … I’m only here for two days. I didn’t think I was going to come across a human skull.”
As the investigation continues, authorities hope to uncover more information about the circumstances surrounding Hart’s disappearance and ultimate demise. The case serves as a chilling reminder of the mysteries that can lie dormant for years, waiting for the right moment to be unveiled.
