NORFOLK, Massachusetts — A tragic murder-suicide has rocked a Massachusetts community, as a family of three was found dead in their mansion last Thursday. According to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office, Rakesh Kamal, his wife Teena, and their daughter Arianna all lost their lives in the incident. The authorities have determined that Rakesh, 57, shot his wife Teena, 54, and their 18-year-old daughter Arianna before turning the gun on himself. A .40-caliber Glock 22, which was not registered to Rakesh, was recovered at the scene.

Initially referred to as a “domestic violence situation” by District Attorney Michael Morrissey, the incident was officially classified as a murder-suicide after autopsies were conducted by the medical examiner. There is no evidence indicating the involvement of another person.

The devastating discovery was made by a relative who visited the Kamal family’s sprawling 11-bedroom, 13-bathroom mansion after failing to reach any family members.

Arianna, a freshman studying neuroscience at Middlebury College in Vermont, was home for winter break when the tragedy unfolded. Public records reveal that the Kamal family had been facing financial difficulties. The estate had gone into foreclosure a year ago and was subsequently sold for $3 million. Teena, who was the co-founder of an education systems company called EduNova, had filed for bankruptcy in September 2022, but the case was dismissed due to insufficient documentation.

District Attorney Morrissey expressed his condolences to the Kamal family during a press briefing, highlighting the tragic increase in domestic violence incidents during the holiday season. He emphasized that there were no previous reports of domestic issues involving the family.
