Country music artist Zach Bryan was taken into custody by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol on Thursday following an incident that led to his arrest. Bryan, who was apprehended in Vinita, a city northeast of Tulsa, was charged with obstructing an investigation.
Bryan, who gained fame with his debut album “American Heartbreak” last year, confirmed his arrest on the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter. He admitted to having an altercation with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, stating, “Today, I had an incident with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Emotions got the best of me, and I was out of line in the things I said.”
Bryan expressed his support for law enforcement and apologized for his behavior, stating that his actions were out of character. He acknowledged that he was taken to jail and that his mugshot was circulating online.
Bryan’s self-titled album recently topped the Billboard 200 chart, and his 2022 album “American Heartbreak” secured the fifth spot, according to music industry reports. His hit song “Something in the Orange” was a popular track from his earlier album.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has yet to provide further details about the incident. Bryan took to social media to apologize, expressing hope that everyone could move past the incident and assuring his fans that he is doing his best. He also extended his apologies to the officers involved.
Bryan was booked into the Craig County Jail in Vinita, Oklahoma, on the charge of obstructing an investigation. He was released shortly after his arrest. The circumstances leading to his arrest remain unclear.
Following his release, Bryan addressed his arrest in a lengthy social media post, admitting that his interaction with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol was uncharacteristic and that he was frustrated at the time. Bryan, a native of Oologah, Oklahoma, and a U.S. Navy veteran, recently won the coveted Academy of Country Music Award for “New Male Artist Of The Year.” His self-titled album, released on August 25, quickly climbed to the top of the Billboard 200 chart. Bryan initially shared his music on YouTube while serving in the Navy and gained widespread attention with his viral 2019 hit “Heading South.” His first major-label album, “American Heartbreak,” featuring a 34-song track list, debuted last May and reached number five on the Billboard 200.
