LINCOLN, Neb. — A 74-year-old woman in Lincoln, Nebraska, was discovered breathing before her funeral, stunning local authorities. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference to discuss the remarkable turn of events involving Constance Glantz.
Lancaster County Sheriff Chief Deputy Ben Houchin emphasized the extraordinary nature of the case, stating, “Been doing this 31 years, and nothing like this has ever gotten to this point before.”
The incident unfolded at The Mulberry nursing home in Waverly, where Glantz had been receiving hospice care. Staff at the nursing home declared her dead at around 9:45 a.m. However, when Glantz’s body was transported to the Butherus-Maser & Love Funeral Home at 11:43 a.m., a staff member noticed signs of life. Lincoln Fire and Rescue were immediately called, and Glantz was rushed to a local hospital, where she is currently alive.
The sheriff’s department has launched an investigation into the incident but has not found any evidence of foul play by the nursing home. Houchin explained that they were not initially notified when Glantz was pronounced dead because the circumstances did not meet the criteria for a coroner investigation. Nevertheless, Glantz’s family has been informed of the situation.
While at least one nurse was present with Glantz before the momentous discovery, the exact number of individuals involved in transporting her body remains unclear.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are determined to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this bewildering incident.
