Dominique Brown, a prominent influencer in the Disney theme park community, tragically lost her life due to a severe allergic reaction at a festive gathering. The 34-year-old was attending a food-centric event hosted by pop culture merchandise retailer BoxLunch in Los Angeles on December 5 when the unfortunate incident took place. Brown, a resident of Long Beach, inadvertently consumed a food item containing allergens, which resulted in a medical crisis.
Eyewitnesses at the event reported that Brown started feeling ill immediately after consuming the food and was quickly taken to the hospital. A social media user, who claimed to know Brown, shared that she had asked about the presence of peanuts in the food and was assured there were none.
Reports suggest that Brown received immediate medical assistance at the event, including CPR, and emergency services were swiftly notified. BoxLunch expressed their profound grief over the incident in a statement, extending their condolences to Brown’s family and friends and promising support to them and their team during this challenging time. The official cause of Brown’s death has not been released yet.
Patrick Ramos, Brown’s brother, expressed his gratitude to her social media followers for their outpouring of love and support. In a comment on her last Instagram post, where she was seen joyfully donning a Winnie the Pooh-themed outfit in a Disney store, Ramos thanked her online community for sharing in her love for Disney. He warmly recalled his sister’s radiant smile and her passion for Disney.
Brown, who had recently attended the premiere of “Moana 2,” was recognized for her posts about new Disney rides and experiences. Besides her content creation, she co-founded BlackGirlDisney with her friend Mia Von, a Dallas-based real estate agent. Their initiative aimed to boost the representation of women of color in the Disney influencer space.
This tragic incident is reminiscent of a similar case from last year when NYU Langone doctor Kanokporn Tangsuan allegedly died from an allergic reaction to food at a restaurant in Disney Springs. Her husband, Jeffrey Piccolo, filed a lawsuit claiming that despite informing the restaurant staff about her nut and dairy allergy, she was served food that led to her fatal reaction.
