Fashion Mogul Isak Andic Dies in Accident

Isak Andic, the founder and proprietor of the renowned fashion brand Mango, tragically passed away in a mountain accident on Saturday, according to police reports. At the age of 71, Andic met his untimely end after slipping and falling over 100 meters from a cliff during a hiking trip with family members in the Montserrat caves, located near Barcelona, as confirmed by a police spokesperson.

Andic’s sudden demise has left a significant void in the fashion industry. Toni Ruiz, Mango’s CEO, expressed his grief over the loss, emphasizing the impact Andic had on the company and the fashion world. He stated that Andic’s legacy and accomplishments are a testament to his life and that it is their responsibility to ensure Mango continues to be the ambitious project that Andic was proud of.

Born in Istanbul, Andic relocated with his family to Catalonia, a northeastern Spanish region, in the 1960s. He established Mango in 1984, which has since grown into a global fashion empire. According to Forbes, Andic had amassed a fortune of $4.5 billion at the time of his death, serving as the non-executive chairman of the company.

Andic was often compared to Amancio Ortega, the owner of Inditex, recognized as the world’s largest fast-fashion retailer. Despite the competition, Andic’s Mango held its own in the fashion industry.

In 2023, Mango reported a turnover of 3.1 billion euros, with online sales accounting for 33% of its business. The brand has a significant global presence, with operations in over 120 markets worldwide.
