This week, a 44-year-old man, David Victor Miller, was apprehended after shooting a naked man that ended up in his daughter’s bed. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
According to authorities, the arrest was made at his Cape Coral, Florida home following an incident where the man fired multiple shots at a naked man he discovered sleeping in his teen daughter’s bed after a night of heavy drinking.
The statement from the police department stated that Mr. Miller had a married couple renting a room from him. Miller explained that one of his roommates was found nude in his daughter’s bedroom. When officers arrived at the scene, they were able to escort both of the man’s roommates out of the bedroom.
Investigations revealed that the two victims were a married couple renting a room in Miller’s home and were living with his wife and daughter. Additionally, officers reported that shell casings and bullet holes were found in the bedroom door.
Miller said that he and the two victims had been drinking heavily that night, and the naked man told police that he had gotten out of his bed in the middle of the night to use the restroom and mistakenly went into the teenage girl’s bedroom afterward.
The girl woke up and then alerted her father, and the naked man’s spouse woke him up and shouted that he was in the wrong room. Miller then went to the man’s bedroom and began pounding on the door and threatened to kill him before shooting his gun 3-4 times outside the bedroom door.
The girl did not allege that a crime happened to her during the incident.
Miller was arrested without incident and taken to Lee County Jail, held until his arraignment on April 10.
