In a shocking revelation, Swiss authorities have disclosed the gruesome details surrounding the murder of a former Miss Switzerland finalist, Kristina Joksimovic. The 38-year-old was found brutally murdered in her home in Binningen, near Basel, Switzerland, in February. The prime suspect in the case is her 41-year-old husband, identified only as “Thomas” in local media.
Thomas was arrested and charged with the murder of his wife. Despite his appeal for release, the Swiss federal court in Lausanne denied his request after he confessed to the crime. The court’s ruling also shed light on the horrifying details of the murder and indicated that there were “concrete indications of a mental illness” in the case, as reported by Swiss outlet BZ Basel.
Joksimovic’s mutilated body was discovered on the night of February 13. Thomas, who is the father of their two daughters, admitted to killing her in March. He claimed it was an act of self-defense, alleging that she had previously attacked him with a knife. However, medical experts found no evidence supporting his claim of self-defense and determined that Joksimovic’s cause of death was strangulation.
The autopsy report revealed that Joksimovic’s body was dismembered using a jigsaw, knife, and garden shears. Several body parts were then chopped up with a hand blender, “pureed,” and dissolved in a chemical solution. Thomas was arrested the day after her body was found. He initially told investigators that he had discovered her dead and dismembered her body in their laundry room out of panic.
Prosecutors described Thomas as showing “a noticeably high level of criminal energy, lack of empathy, and cold-bloodedness” in his attempts to cover up the crime. They also revealed that he had previously choked his wife. A former partner of Thomas also alleged that he had once violently assaulted Joksimovic.
Joksimovic was a well-known figure in Switzerland, having been crowned Miss Northwest Switzerland and being a finalist for Miss Switzerland in 2007. She later established her own business as a catwalk coach and mentored model Dominique Rinderknecht for the Miss Universe pageant in 2013.
The news of her death sent shockwaves through the Swiss community. Former Miss Switzerland Christa Rigozzi, who was a friend of Joksimovic, expressed her shock and grief, remembering Joksimovic as a “beautiful and kind-hearted woman.” Thomas was a successful entrepreneur, and the couple, along with their two daughters, lived in a large home with a picturesque view overlooking Basel.
