Former President Donald Trump was present at the Sunday Night Football game in Pittsburgh, where he watched the Steelers play against the New York Jets. Trump, who had recently been working at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania, was seen in a suite box at Acrisure Stadium during the first half of the nationally broadcasted game.
The 45th president acknowledged the football fans from his suite, with chants of “USA” audible in the background, as per video footage shared on social media by a campaign staff member. Earlier in the weekend, Trump had rallied with former Steelers players Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell, both of whom endorsed the Republican nominee.
Before the game started, Brown, a former wide receiver known for his controversial career, and Bell distributed yellow Trump-Vance rally towels outside the stadium. They also set up a table to register new voters, as seen in social media videos. In anticipation of the Week 7 game, Trump shared an AI-generated image of himself wearing a Steelers jersey on his social media platforms.
Trump also has ties to the Jets. Woody Johnson, the team’s owner, served as the US ambassador to the United Kingdom during Trump’s initial term in the White House. As for the teams, the Steelers have had a promising start to the season with a 4-2 record, while the Jets, led by Aaron Rodgers, have had a less than stellar start, with a 2-4 record.
