A tragic incident occurred Friday on a Texas freeway at around 8:30 p.m. on the westbound lanes of the Katy Freeway near Blalock, Texas, when a tire detached from an eastbound 18-wheeler and crashed into a KIA SUV.

The impact of the tire instantly killed the passenger in the SUV. The driver had sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Following the impact, the KIA SUV swerved uncontrollably, crossing all six freeway lanes before finally coming to a halt when it slammed into a side wall. The SUV driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.

The KIA SUV experienced a forceful impact, causing it to veer off course and move erratically across all six freeway lanes. It did not stop until it collided with a side wall. Though the driver of the SUV suffered injuries, they were not life-threatening. They were quickly transported to the hospital to receive medical attention.

The 18-wheeler driver did not stop at the scene and kept going, possibly unaware of the incident. It is speculated that the loose tire may have been a spare.

As of Friday, police were still searching for the driver of the 18-wheeler. The westbound lanes of the Katy Freeway were closed for over an hour while the authorities investigated and cleared the wreckage.
