Hendersonville, Tennessee – A missing person case has taken a grim turn as law enforcement announces the investigation into the disappearance of 17-year-old Trinity Bostic has become a homicide case. Last week, the teenager’s body was discovered in small wood line near a state route, prompting the arrest of a 17-year-old boy from a neighboring town. The suspect’s identity has not been disclosed.

Trinity went missing on June 29. The Macon County Sheriff’s Office initiated interviews with family and friends in an effort to locate her. Her cell phone led authorities outside of Macon County to Sumner County, where attempts to find Trinity were unsuccessful.

On July 3, her body was discovered near Hendersonville, a city about 50 miles southeast of Lafayette. The remains were later confirmed to be Trinity’s. Sgt. Nicholas Edwards of the Hendersonville Police Department declared the case a homicide investigation on July 5.

The following day, the 17-year-old suspect was arrested by the Hendersonville Police Department and charged with first-degree murder. Due to the ongoing investigation, no further details regarding the incident have been released. The cause of Trinity’s death has yet to be determined, pending the completion of an autopsy.

Trinity, who had been working at Walmart, was set to enter her senior year at Macon County High School. In response to her tragic passing, members of the upcoming graduating class launched a GoFundMe campaign to support Trinity’s family during this difficult time.

The investigation is ongoing, and the defendant is currently being held in Sumner County.
