Israeli defense chief orders Hamas forces to observe ceasefire as additional attack foiled in Gaza.

A cell of Hamas terrorists attempted to infiltrate into Israeli-controlled territory in northern Gaza on Monday, in another violation of the fragile ceasefire in the coastal enclave.
According to a statement released by the Israeli military, a group of terrorists was spotted crossing the Yellow Line, demarcating the ceasefire boundaries between areas in Gaza under IDF and Hamas control.
The terrorists approached IDF forces in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood of Gaza City, an army spokesperson said, “in a manner that posed an immediate threat to them.”
“The forces fired toward the terrorists who crossed the Yellow Line in order to remove the threat to the troops.”
A second attempted infiltration was later reported in the same area.
“A short time later, additional terrorists were identified crossing the Yellow Line and approaching IDF forces operating in the Shuja’iyya area in a way that posed an immediate threat to the forces,” the IDF said.
“The forces fired toward the terrorists who crossed the yellow line in order to eliminate the threat to the troops.”
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned Monday that any Hamas terrorists remaining in Israeli-controlled territory would be targeted by the IDF, including during the ceasefire.
“Every Hamas terrorist beyond the yellow line, in areas under IDF control, must evacuate immediately,” Katz said. “Hamas’ leaders will bear responsibility for all incidents.”
“Anyone who remains in the area will become a target for attack, without any additional warning, in order to allow the IDF forces to act freely and immediately against any threat.”
The latest Hamas infiltration attempts come as White House special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and confidant Jared Kushner arrived in Israel, as the administration pushes to move forward with the second phase of its Gaza peace plan.
President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance on Sunday both downplayed the significance of Hamas violations of the ceasefire earlier that day.
Two IDF soldiers were killed and three more wounded in a Hamas missile attack on an armored personnel carrier.
In two other incidents, Hamas terrorists attempted to infiltrate into Israeli-held territory in northern Gaza and Hamas snipers opened fire on an Israeli border crossing.
