‘Home Improvement’ Star Arrested for Domestic Violence

Zachery Ty Bryan, a 43-year-old actor recognized for his role in the hit sitcom “Home Improvement,” has once again been entangled with legal issues. Bryan was arrested by the Myrtle Beach police in South Carolina on the first day of the year, just before the evening. The actor was charged with second-degree domestic violence, as per the official reports. Following his arrest, Bryan was held in Horry County jail on January 2, with his bail set at $10,000.

This is not Bryan’s initial brush with the law. The actor has a history of arrests, with three previous charges of domestic violence. Over the past year, he has also been charged with two DUIs, with his most recent arrest taking place in Oklahoma in October. Bryan’s legal issues began to escalate in 2020 when he was arrested for allegedly strangling his girlfriend at their Oregon residence. He later admitted guilt to two misdemeanor domestic violence charges and was given a 36-month probation sentence.

In an unexpected twist, Bryan proposed to Johnny Faye Cartwright, the woman he was accused of assaulting, in November 2021. The couple has three children together: a daughter named Kennedy and twin sons, Parker and Sequoia. However, Bryan’s legal issues did not cease. In 2023, he was arrested and charged with fourth-degree felony assault, third-degree robbery, and misdemeanor harassment. He admitted guilt to “felony assault in the fourth degree constituting domestic violence,” and was sentenced to a week in jail.

Following Bryan’s arrest, Cartwright issued a statement expressing her wish for what’s best for the father of her children. She acknowledged the trauma and struggles that come with such situations and requested privacy for their children and families.

Bryan’s former co-star and on-screen father, Tim Allen, expressed his bewilderment and concern about Bryan’s legal issues in a 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Allen, now 71, confessed he didn’t understand the transformation Bryan had undergone, from the person he knew to someone reacting to situations beyond his control.
