In a shocking discovery, a homeless woman was found dead, her body hidden inside a suitcase in Seattle, Washington. The deceased, identified as 37-year-old Shannon Marie Caslin Reeder, had not been seen for nearly a year. The local investigative team is now working diligently to uncover the circumstances of her death and identify the person or persons responsible for this horrific act.
Tim Emerson, the program director for We Heart Seattle, a group committed to helping the homeless, expressed his deep shock and disgust at the discovery. He described it as one of the most horrifying and repulsive incidents he had ever come across, struggling to understand how someone could commit such a heinous act.
The grim discovery was made during a separate incident near a homeless encampment close to Dr. Jose Rizal Park in Seattle. A man had been shot and injured, which led law enforcement and outreach workers to clear the area. On September 27, during the cleanup, workers found the suitcase containing Reeder’s remains among a pile of discarded items.
Emerson pointed out that violence was not uncommon in the area, underscoring the need for vigilance and caution. He encouraged people to be aware of their surroundings, understand who they were interacting with, and know when to remove themselves from potentially dangerous situations.
Investigators are now working to construct a timeline leading up to Reeder’s death. They are reaching out to anyone who may have seen or had contact with her in the past year. The Washington State Patrol has confirmed that Reeder was last seen in November 2023.
Authorities are calling on anyone with potentially useful information regarding Reeder’s death or the disposal of her remains to come forward. They are particularly interested in any knowledge of individuals who may have been involved in the incident.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office is currently determining the cause of Reeder’s death, as per reports.
