IDAHO FALLS, Idaho – Tragic news unfolded in Idaho as authorities discovered the lifeless body of a kidnapped 10-month-old baby in a wooded area. The father, who was a suspect in the murder of the baby’s mother, was found nearby, naked and making strange statements.
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office shared that a group of hunters alerted deputies after spotting a man in a sleeping bag by the roadside, seemingly unclothed and exhibiting peculiar behavior. The naked man was identified as 48-year-old Jeremy Albert Best, who was also wanted for the alleged killing of his wife, 38-year-old Kali Jean Randall.
Earlier in the week, deputies had responded to a disturbance in Victor, Idaho, leading them to discover Randall’s lifeless body inside her home. Best, named as the suspect in her murder, had fled the scene with their infant son.
An Amber Alert was issued for the missing child, Zeke Gregory Best, as authorities believed he had been taken by his father, who was deemed heavily armed. The alert described the suspect’s vehicle as a black 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe with Idaho license plates.
Prior to the alleged murder and abduction, Best’s erratic behavior was reported at the Swan Valley General Store in Bonneville County. The incident involved him walking around the store without any clothing.
Following his apprehension, Best received a medical evaluation at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center before being discharged. The circumstances surrounding his release from the hospital remain unclear.
The authorities discovered Best’s Chevrolet SUV down the embankment where the baby’s body was recovered. However, the cause of the infant’s death has yet to be determined, with no details provided at this time.
Best has been arrested and booked into the Bonneville County Jail, where he will remain until his arraignment. The investigation into this tragic incident continues, with multiple agencies involved, including Bonneville County detectives, Idaho State Police, the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho Falls Police Detectives, and FBI agents.
