A New York Times report says the IDF has demolished more than 2,500 structures in Gaza since the ceasefire began, largely inside the Israeli-controlled sector east of the so-called Yellow Line.
Israel argues these are not “random razings” but combat engineering: collapsing tunnel routes, clearing booby-trapped buildings, and removing kill-zone cover Hamas terrorists have repeatedly used to stage ambushes and plant IEDs.
The bigger story is the map.
The Yellow Line now functions as a hard internal boundary that effectively splits Gaza, with the IDF holding large swaths while Hamas still rules what’s left—creating constant friction along a line that was supposed to be temporary.
The NYT report also cites demolition activity and ground changes that have sparked new accusations: Palestinians and aid groups say markers and positions have shifted west in places, while Israel denies moving the line.
