In a shocking incident in Ohio, a man is accused of stabbing his parents after his mother refused to let him stay the night and requested his father to seek psychiatric assistance for him. The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Kenneth Mortimer, is currently held in Hamilton County jail on charges of murder, attempted murder, and felonious assault.
According to the police, Mortimer allegedly attacked his mother, 75-year-old Barbara Mortimer, as she attempted to flee, dragging her back into the house to continue the assault. His father, also 75, survived the attack but sustained serious injuries that required immediate medical attention at UC Hospital.
The incident occurred in the Cincinnati-area city of Green Township, where police and paramedics were dispatched to a residence on the 3300 block of Palmhill Lane. The call, which came in just before 4 p.m. on a Friday, reported a stabbing incident.
Upon arrival, officers found two victims suffering from stab wounds. The suspect had fled the scene before the officers’ arrival. The police investigation revealed that the violent altercation stemmed from an argument between Mortimer and his parents.
Documents obtained from local sources indicate that Barbara Mortimer had told her son he could not stay the night at their home and asked her husband to call for psychiatric help. This reportedly led to Mortimer grabbing a kitchen knife and attacking his parents while they were seated on the couch.
Despite managing to escape the house, Barbara Mortimer was dragged back inside by her son and stabbed multiple times. Mortimer then allegedly fled the scene. However, police were able to locate him in Cincinnati, where he reportedly confessed to the crime.
Kenneth Mortimer is set to appear in court for a hearing on August 20.
