Man Fatally Stabbed His Own Father

An Ohio man, aged 33, has been arrested and charged with the murder of his 69-year-old father. Jared Luecke was taken into custody last Thursday, facing charges of murder and tampering with evidence, following the death of his father, John Luecke, according to court records.

The incident reportedly occurred during a heated argument at a residence in Sycamore Township, located approximately 10 miles northeast of Cincinnati. Court documents filed in Hamilton County Municipal Court reveal that the dispute escalated when Jared Luecke retrieved a crowbar and a knife from his bedroom.

A detective from the county sheriff’s office, in an affidavit, detailed the violent encounter. Jared Luecke allegedly attacked his father with the crowbar, hitting him twice in the shoulder. As John Luecke tried to wrestle the crowbar away, Jared picked up a knife that had fallen from his pocket and stabbed his father seven to eight times in the front of his body. The detective confirmed that the injuries inflicted by Jared directly led to John’s death.

In a post-Miranda interview, Jared Luecke reportedly confessed to the murder and admitted to attempting to clean up the crime scene using household cleaning products. A 911 call placed by Jared, obtained by a local Fox affiliate in Newport, Kentucky, provided further details about the incident.

During the call, Jared Luecke confessed to killing his father, stating, “I need to be arrested. I have been in a fight with my father and I think he is dead.” He explained that the argument turned violent after his father pushed him, leading him to react in self-defense when his father picked up the fallen knife.

Jared Luecke also revealed his ongoing mental health struggles during the call, stating, “I’ve had mental issues for a while, and I’ve tried telling people that I needed help and nobody ever cared. I’ve had undiagnosed depression and also some ADHD — I don’t know, something is wrong with me.”

Jared Luecke was booked into the Hamilton County Jail on Thursday evening. He appeared before Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Bernie Bouchard on Friday, where his bond was set at $1 million. The date of his next court appearance has not been disclosed.
