A violent incident unfolded late Wednesday night outside a popular nightclub in Queens, New York, resulting in at least ten people being injured, as reported by local law enforcement. The victims, mostly teenagers, were part of a gathering near the Amazura nightclub in Jamaica, Queens, shortly before 11:20 p.m. after a private event.
According to reports, four men initiated the violence, discharging a minimum of 30 rounds into the crowd. The victims, comprising six females and four males, were between the ages of 16 and 20. All victims were promptly transported to nearby medical facilities, including Long Island Jewish Hospital and Cohen Children’s Medical Center.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) held a press briefing on Thursday morning, confirming the details of the incident. They also disclosed that they are in pursuit of a light-colored sedan that is suspected to be linked to the shooting.
Images and videos from the scene, shared on the Citizen app, depicted a substantial response from police and emergency medical services. Photos also showed NYPD investigators marking numerous pieces of evidence on the street and sidewalk near the nightclub.
The Amazura nightclub, recognized for its spacious interior that can hold up to 4,000 people, is a regular venue for DJs and live performances. The club was reportedly hosting a private event on the night of the shooting.
Despite the gravity of the incident, none of the victims are in critical condition, and all are expected to recover, as per the NYPD. The investigation into the shooting is still underway, and further updates are anticipated as more information comes to light.
