McDonald’s Employees Face Assault Charges After Drive-Thru Dispute

Three employees of a McDonald’s restaurant in northern Columbus are facing assault charges following a dispute over a drive-thru order that escalated into a violent confrontation. The incident, which took place on October 17, resulted in a customer suffering a broken facial bone.

The altercation began when a customer, unhappy with his order, asked for a correction. This request sparked a disagreement with an employee named Cedric Love. Another employee, Torshawn Williams, filled a cup from the drink fountain and, together with Love and a third employee, Cornelious Goodrich, went outside. Surveillance footage captured parts of the ensuing confrontation as the customer remained at the pickup window.

Williams is accused of throwing the cup through the open driver’s side window, prompting the customer to exit his van. The three employees are then alleged to have started assaulting the customer, resulting in a broken orbital bone around his left eye that required surgical treatment.

Goodrich, who has a previous conviction for voluntary manslaughter from 2004 and served 12 years in prison, appeared in court and was issued a $30,000 bond on Wednesday. Williams, meanwhile, received a $50,000 bond and a temporary restraining order on Thursday. Both are scheduled to return to court on November 22.

An arrest warrant was issued for Love on November 6, but he remains at large. The incident has sparked concerns about customer safety and employee conduct in fast-food establishments.
