In a tragic incident that occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, two brothers lost their lives in what is believed to be a murder-suicide. The event transpired in a townhouse situated on Ella Boulevard’s 15100 block. The victims, both in their twenties, were discovered with fatal gunshot wounds after law enforcement was summoned to the scene just before 2 a.m.
The mother of the two young men, who was in the house at the time of the incident, made the distressing emergency call. She was awakened by a disturbance emanating from her sons’ room. After forcing the locked door open, she found her sons with fatal injuries. The horrifying discovery led to her experiencing a panic attack, necessitating immediate medical intervention.
Law enforcement officials suspect that the younger brother, 22, shot his 24-year-old sibling, who had been diagnosed with autism, before turning the gun on himself. A single handgun was discovered at the scene by the responding deputies.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office revealed that they had previously been summoned to the residence for issues related to mental health and family disturbances involving one of the brothers. However, they did not disclose which brother was implicated in these previous incidents.
The investigation into the tragic event is still underway, and a clear motive has not yet been established. Sgt. Sidney Miller stated that while there is a known medical history associated with one of the brothers, it remains uncertain how or if this played a part in the tragic incident.
The sheriff’s office has extended its condolences to the family during this difficult time and urges anyone struggling with mental health issues to seek professional assistance.
