Teacher Arrested for Lewd Behavior in Elementary School

A Florida resident was apprehended and charged with indecent and lascivious behavior after law enforcement officers discovered him unclothed in an elementary school classroom, allegedly in possession of an assortment of adult toys and cannabis. The arrest report, as per Law&Crime, indicates that police were alerted on November 28 about a Caucasian male who was reportedly “naked in one of the classrooms” at Windmill Point Elementary School in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Upon the arrival of the officers at the scene, the man hastily dressed himself and attempted to flee. However, the police managed to catch up with him. The man, later identified as 34-year-old Joe Franklin Urias, resisted arrest, leading to an altercation that resulted in an officer being punched in the face. After subduing Urias, additional officers arrived, and the suspect was taken into custody.

Further investigation revealed that Urias was employed as a teacher at Somerset College Preparatory Academy, another local school. Urias reportedly informed the police that he was currently without a home and had gained entry into the school via an unsecured window. In the classroom where Urias was initially discovered, officers found several of his personal belongings, including multiple adult toys and women’s underwear. Urias was also found to be in possession of a “leafy green substance in a clear, plastic container,” which the police identified as cannabis.

Urias was subsequently charged with burglary, possession of cannabis (less than 20 grams), battery on an officer, and indecent lascivious behavior. The latter charge was due to Urias being found “naked and running around the school without clothes on” and in possession of adult toys.

Following Urias’ arrest on Thanksgiving night, Somerset College Preparatory Academy issued a statement on Facebook acknowledging “allegations, unrelated to our school, against an individual formerly employed at our school.” The school emphasized the safety and well-being of its students and community as its top priority and assured that all potential employees undergo thorough background checks and screening conducted by the local school district.

The school concluded its statement by affirming that it had addressed the matter administratively and would take all necessary measures to ensure that Urias does not return to their campus. Urias is currently detained at the St. Lucie County Jail with a bond set at $31,000.
