GEORGETOWN, Texas — A 6-year-old boy from Texas is fighting for his life after a brutal assault in his home, allegedly perpetrated by his next-door neighbor. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Sept. 11, has left the community in shock and the boy’s family grappling with the aftermath.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance at a residence on Rock Mill Loop in Georgetown around 5 a.m. on the day of the incident. The authorities have identified the suspect as 39-year-old Daniel Logan, who allegedly broke into his neighbor’s home and attacked the child with a baseball bat.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Logan forced his way into the house armed with a baseball bat and assaulted two individuals, including the 6-year-old boy. Both victims were rushed to local hospitals for treatment. Logan is now facing two first-degree felony charges: injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member.

Local news station Fox-7 reported that Logan also allegedly attacked his 65-year-old mother, Cynthia Logan, with the bat. Following the incident, a mental health assessment was ordered for Logan on Sept. 12.

The boy, named Jeremy, is described as a bright and vibrant child with a promising future. The unprovoked attack has left him with severe injuries and an uncertain path to recovery. A GoFundMe page has been set up by the child’s father, Arturo Diaz, and a family friend, Laila Dabbakeh, to help cover the cost of his medical expenses. The fundraising goal is set at $250,000.

Logan’s wife reportedly told detectives that she woke up to loud noises on the morning of the incident. Unable to find her husband, she noticed a hole in the fence between their homes and shattered glass near the neighbor’s back patio door. She then reportedly heard Jeremy’s mother screaming.

The boy’s father, who wished to remain anonymous, described his son as an active child who enjoyed jiu-jitsu, soccer, and painting. He also spoke fluent Chinese and was studying Chinese characters, played the piano, and was a role model to his younger brother.

Logan, who has no previous criminal history in Texas, could face up to 99 years in prison if convicted of the charges. As the investigation continues, the community rallies around Jeremy and his family, hoping for his full recovery.
