Denver authorities are currently investigating a shooting incident involving Josh Reynolds, a wide receiver for the Broncos. Reynolds was injured in the incident, which took place last week after he and two other men left a local strip club. The attack occurred in the early hours of Friday morning, as the men were departing the venue in a vehicle.
Police responded to several emergency calls and discovered that Reynolds, aged 29, had been shot twice. He sustained injuries to the back of his head and his left arm. Another man in the vehicle was also shot in the back, while the third man was injured by broken glass. The men were in a blue Ford Bronco at the time of the attack.
The incident occurred after the men left Shotgun Willie’s, a strip club located in the Denver suburbs. The club has a notorious reputation and has previously been in the news when NBA player Ja Morant was seen with a firearm during a live stream from one of the club’s rooms.
Court documents reveal that Reynolds and his companions did not have any altercations while inside the club. However, they noticed several vehicles following them as they left the club and headed onto the highway. This led to the subsequent attack. Denver police have since arrested two men, Burr Charlesworth and Luis Mendoza, in connection with the shooting.
Surveillance footage showed Mendoza’s car following closely behind the victims’ vehicle. During questioning, Charlesworth admitted that he had been hired to help a friend who had issues with the victims and was told to follow them.
Reynolds has been a key player for his team this season, with 12 receptions for 183 yards and one touchdown. His absence was felt in last Thursday’s game against the Saints, as he was placed on the injury reserve list due to a finger injury.
The Broncos released an official statement confirming that Reynolds was “a victim of a shooting” and had received medical treatment for his injuries. The team also expressed respect for the ongoing legal process and deferred any further comments to law enforcement.
